Life Updates

This is exactly why I don’t keep a diary.

Except that I do actually. I have an app on my phone and I update it every weekday and sometimes on weekends. But I’m not going to share that with the world, so the point stands.

Where was I going with this?

Right. So I totally meant to post at least one life update in November, but life kind of got crazy. So an early December life update will have to suffice.

It had been my intent to write up a November life update about my parents’ new house in Pittsburgh. It’s this crazy-awesome quad-level thing, and they’ve been having a hard time explaining its layout (mainly for my aunts, who are all rather perplexed by what they know of it so far). I took a bunch of pictures and meant to write a detailed description of the place… but, well… life happened?

(I’ll get to it soon, Aunts; pinky-swear.)

I’m also considering doing more things with my Fiction, which is why Aliara has suddenly vanished except for the first chapter. If anyone wants to read more of Aliara or (once its current run completes and it too vanishes) Reprise, they should contact me directly and we can work something out.

But yeah. So. Life updates.

I’m going to Indianapolis this weekend. Some people from my gym where I do kickboxing are competing in amateur MMA fights there, so I’ll be traveling with them and covering the fights. Science Cutie (yes, he’s still around) joked that I’ll be like Joe Rogan. I told him it’s less Joe Rogan and more “Almost Famous.” But like, you know, without the drugs.

As mentioned, Science Cutie is still around. He’s super busy doing that post-doc thing, so we haven’t actually seen each other in person for like a week and a half, but we’re still in touch.

Oh, and here’s something neat. If there’s anyone in the Ann Arbor area who would be willing to be part of an interview series I’m doing, they should contact me as well. The idea is that I want to build my portfolio of profile pieces, so I’m taking volunteers who’d be willing to meet someplace public for coffee for 30-45 minutes. I’d interview them, and they can tell me any version of their life story they want. Then I’ll write up a profile piece with all the gravitas usually given to the rich and famous, and publish it here (names changed of course). If they like, they can even give me their email so I can send them the link once it’s up.

And I’d pay for the coffee.

But yeah, as far as new things in my life right now, that’s pretty much it. Lots of writing. Lots of pitching. Which then means lots of waiting. But hey, that’s the life of a writer.
